DIRECTOR OF SECURITY
Location: Washington, DC
Job Summary:
Our customer is seeking an experienced Security Director for immediate hire (office location, Northwest Washington, DC.). The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of a large security contract supporting US government customers at various locations throughout the Washington, DC area. The Security Director is ultimately responsible for ensuring adequate contractor responses are provided in a timely fashion, 24 hours per day 365 days per year. As a result, the Security Director should possess strategic planning experience, resource management experience, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The contract’s workforce is composed of approximately three hundred (300) Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) organized into Security Guard Teams collocated with the customers they support. Each team is under the immediate supervision of a dedicated Security Manager also collocated with their customer. Each Security Manager reports directly to the Security Director who provides company oversight and serves as our front-line liaison with all contract customers. The candidate should possess at least 15 years of relevant experience leading/managing workforces (as listed below).
Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
Direct and supervise security personnel, including hiring, training, and performance
evaluation. Coordinate with internal departments and external clients to ensure
seamless security operations.
Oversee the deployment of security technologies, such as surveillance systems, access
control, and alarm systems.
Policy and Procedure Development:
Establish and enforce security policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain regulatory
compliance and mitigate risks.
Conduct regular reviews and updates of security policies to adapt to changing threats
and operational needs.
Ensure all security measures align with legal requirements and industry standards.
Incident Response and Crisis Management:
Develop protocols for responding to security incidents, emergencies, and crises.
Lead investigations into security breaches, thefts, or other incidents, and implement
corrective actions.
Coordinate with law enforcement agencies and other authorities as necessary during
security-related incidents.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Conduct security assessments and audits to identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential security threats.
Monitor and analyze security metrics and reports to proactively address security gaps.
Client Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding security concerns and inquiries.
Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs and customize solutions accordingly.
Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and responsiveness to their needs.
Budgeting and Resource Allocation:
Develop and manage the security department budget, ensuring efficient use of
resources.
Allocate resources effectively to prioritize critical security initiatives and projects.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize security expenditures where possible.
Semi-Monthly Billing Data:
Oversee the semi-monthly billing process for security services provided to clients.
Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to ensure accurate invoicing and timely collection of payments.
Review billing data and reports to identify discrepancies or billing errors, and take corrective actions as needed.
Maintain records of billing transactions and reconcile accounts to ensure financial integrity.
Address client inquiries and resolve billing-related issues promptly and professionally.
Analyze billing data trends to optimize revenue generation and improve billing efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in security management, criminal justice, business administration, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
Proven experience in security management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of security principles, practices, and technologies.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to security.
Experience working in diverse environments, such as corporate, industrial, or
government sectors.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary $130-165K
Have the option to telework 1-2 a week
Primary office located in NW, DC
